FAST GPA Calculator

For BS and BBA students at FAST-NUCES (all campuses). The university's Academic Grading page lists the grade points (A+ and A 4.00, A− 3.67, B+ 3.33, B 3.00 and so on to D 1.00) and states that grades CR, I and W are not used in computing the SGPA or the CGPA. Enter your courses to get the same weighted average.

A+ and A carry the same 4.00, so an A+ raises the transcript wording, not the average. The grading page notes no fixed percentage band per letter; for most courses semester work contributes 50% of the final grade and the final examination the other 50%.

The SGPA formula

SGPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits), which is the weighted average the grading page describes.

Worked example

CourseCreditsGradePointsCredits × points
Course 13A4.0012.00
Course 23A−3.6711.01
Course 33B+3.339.99
Course 41B3.003.00

Total credits = 10, total points = 36.00, so SGPA = 36.00 ÷ 10 = 3.60.

Repeats, warnings and the I grade

  • A repeated course replaces the earlier grade points, even when the new grade is lower.
  • Students under warning must repeat passed courses whose grade points are below the minimum CGPA for their programme.
  • An I grade turns into an F automatically before the end of the next semester.
  • A W stays visible on the transcript but does not enter the average.

How to use this calculator

  1. Add one row per course and enter its credits.
  2. Pick the letter grade from your result.
  3. For a repeated course, enter only the most recent grade.
  4. Read the SGPA, or enter every semester together for the CGPA.

Grade points and rules follow the FAST-NUCES Academic Grading page at nu.edu.pk, read on 20 September 2026. Rules change; confirm with your campus Examination Department before relying on a figure.

Frequently asked questions

What are the FAST-NUCES grade points?

For BBA and BS programmes: A+ 4.00, A 4.00, A- 3.67, B+ 3.33, B 3.00, B- 2.67, C+ 2.33, C 2.00, C- 1.67, D+ 1.33, D 1.00, F 0.00, and FA 0.00 for failure due to attendance shortage. MBA/MS and PhD tables stop at C 2.00 and B- 2.67 respectively.

Which grades are left out of the FAST CGPA?

The grading page says grades CR (Continuing Research), I (Incomplete) and W (Withdrawn) are not used in computing the SGPA or the CGPA. An S or U grade for PhD thesis work is also excluded. An I grade converts automatically to an F before the end of the next semester if it is not completed.

How does FAST calculate the SGPA and CGPA?

The page defines the SGPA as the weighted average of the grade points earned in a semester, with the weights being the ratio of each course’s credits to the total credits taken that semester, which is the usual credit-weighted average. The CGPA is the weighted average of all courses taken so far, and for repeated courses only the most recent grade points are used, even if they are lower than an earlier attempt.

What CGPA do I need to avoid a warning at FAST?

The grading page gives 2.0 for BBA and BS, 2.5 for MBA and MS, and 3.0 for PhD. A warning is issued after any semester where the CGPA is below that minimum, and admission is closed when the warning count reaches three.

Does FAST publish a CGPA to percentage formula?

Not on the grading page we read, so this calculator shows no percentage. If a form needs one, ask the Examination Department for an equivalence letter instead of converting the figure yourself.
