UAF grade points and mark bands
| Grade | Value | Marks | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 4 | 80 – 100% | Excellent |
| B | 3 | 65 – 79% | Good |
| C | 2 | 50 – 64% | Satisfactory |
| D | 1 | 40 – 49% | Pass |
| F | 0 | Below 40% | Fail |
Five grades, no plus or minus. That makes UAF's scale coarser than most: 80% and 100% are both an A, and the eleven-point ladder used by HEC and by most Pakistani universities does not apply here.
Why the HEC table does not fit a UAF transcript
HEC's recommended table starts an A at 85% and runs A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, F. UAF starts an A at 80% and has five grades. A UAF student with 82% holds an A; read against the HEC bands the same 82% would be an A−. If a form asks for a grade, give the one printed on your UAF transcript.
The GPA formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ(credit hours)
The prospectus adds an important detail: the grade point is worked out from the percentage of marks a student obtains in each course separately, following the conversion table, and not from the percentage of total marks across courses.
Worked example
| Course | Credit hours | Grade | Points | Credit hours × points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agronomy | 3 | A | 4 | 12 |
| Soil Science | 3 | B | 3 | 9 |
| Statistics | 2 | B | 3 | 6 |
| Horticulture | 2 | C | 2 | 4 |
Total credit hours = 10, total points = 31, so GPA = 31 ÷ 10 = 3.10.
Passing, standing and repeats
- A course needs at least 40% in theory and 40% in practical separately.
- The maximum GPA is 4.00 and the minimum GPA for obtaining a degree is 2.50, which is higher than the 2.00 many Pakistani universities set.
- A CGPA below 1.50 at the end of an academic year means being declared ceased from the University rolls.
- A D grade may be repeated once within the prescribed credit-hour limit; an improved grade substitutes the earlier F or D.
- An I grade that is not cleared in the available time is replaced by F automatically.
Attendance
A candidate with less than 75% attendance in theory and in practical of each course, counted separately, is not allowed to take that course's final examination. The attendance calculator works out how many classes that leaves.
Why no percentage is shown
The prospectus sets the marks behind each grade but publishes no formula for turning a CGPA back into a percentage, so this page shows none. If a form needs one, ask the Controller of Examinations rather than converting the figure yourself.
Grade points and rules follow the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad Undergraduate Programs Prospectus 2025-26, read on 21 September 2026. Rules change between sessions; confirm with the Controller of Examinations before relying on a figure.
